The first Sino-Danish Child Friendly Community Demo Facility, established jointly by Denmark and China, has been officially completed in Suzhou High-speed Rail New Town. Co-constructed by the Consulate General of Denmark (Shanghai), Innovation Centre Denmark, and Suzhou High-speed Rail New Town, and designed by 3XN Architects and J Design Lab, this community integrates Chinese and Danish education approaches.
The facility features diverse functional areas, including learning zones, independent offices, accessible toilets, choral rehearsal rooms, and children’s playgrounds. It is designed as an open, dynamic environment where children with physical and mental disabilities and other children can learn and play together.
The original irregular architecture, with concrete pillars and asymmetric ceiling beams, was transformed through thoughtful design incorporating high-speed rail and infinity symbol elements. To create a spacious and imaginative environment, Sunon provided children’s furniture in bright, playful colors and Nordic-inspired modular designs, forming a dreamy, fairy-tale-like space for children and parents.
At the entrance, the reception area is themed as a rail scene, furnished with Jason series modular furniture. Its rounded, flexible design accommodates children’s active play and supports reception, consultation, and rest functions.
Large windows provide excellent daylighting, complemented by Sunon’s Flower series modular furniture in soft colors. Units can be added, detached, or reorganized to support private discussions, parent-child activities, and other events.
To support staff well-being, Sunon supplied H2 ergonomic office chairs, featuring independent adjustable backrests to comfortably fit different body types and reduce long-term fatigue.
